Vendor Spotlight -- Eastern Accents

Why do we love Eastern Accents?

In the world of Interior Design, "soft goods" are a key element to a well-designed room.  Most people think of pillows when they consider soft goods, but really, it goes way beyond that.  For me, soft goods include pillows, bed linens, window treatments, throws and bolsters.  When layered properly, these pieces add texture and complexity to a room.  They also absorb sound and soften the space.

Like most designers, I love to create custom soft goods, but often the budget or timeline will not support a custom treatment.  When that is the case, I often turn to Eastern Accents.

Eastern Accents is a fabulous company out of Chicago that has making "soft good" treatments since 1989.  I love the line and this is why:

"Eastern Accents has a great story"  Our relationship with Eastern Accents began several years ago when they were a small company out of Chicago making a few unique pillows.  Even though they were small, the customer service was excellent and the products were unique and beautiful.  It has been a pleasure to work with Eastern Accents and to watch them grow, while still maintaining a small company feel.

"In 1989, Ridvan and Siw Tatargil, a husband and wife team with a sense of adventure and an unflappable entrepreneurial spirit, started manufacturing "kilim" pillows in a 3,000-square foot loft in downtown Chicago.  With only one designer and two sewers, the challenges were many.  However, the vision that continues to drive Eastern Accents became clear:  to use gorgeous textiles in creating home accessories of superior craftsmanship and exceptional quality.

We expanded our product line in 1994 with the introduction of three bedding collections, and business has flourished ever since.  Today, we operate out of a 230,000-square foot facility located in the heart of Chicago with over 300 employees -- including an experienced sewing staff, artisans, and highly skilled craftsmen.  In-house departments such as product design, graphics, the custom workroom, and our photo studio give us complete control of the creative process for all our products.  Though we have grown, Eastern Accents still proudly maintains the close-knit feel of a family business."

I love that.

"Eastern Accents is more than pillows"  Although Eastern Accents offers some of the best pillows in the industry, they also manufacture many other types of soft goods.  They make beautiful comforters and duvet covers, fine sheets and basic linens, table toppers, window treatments, upholstered beds and headboards, ottomans and storage benches.  They even offer the most creative holiday line for pillows, tree skirts and stockings that you will find anywhere.  I love that.

"There is something for everyone in this line"  Eastern Accents offers a diversity of styles to suit just about any taste.  They offer over 200 bedding collections in their main Eastern Accents line.  These collections include styles suitable for traditional, transitional, coastal, and youth bedrooms.  It is easy to complete a look from one collection.  In addition, they carry an exquisite luxury linen line called Marquise, an awesome decorative pillow line called Studio 773, a holiday line and line called Niche Bedding and Living.

"Niche Bedding & Living celebrates color, style, and simplicity.  Our designers are focused on creating bedding free of frills and fuss, developing stories around finely detailed patterns and designs."

I love that.

"Designer brands and lifestyle living"  Eastern Accents has partnered with several well known designers, such as Thom Filicia, Barclay Butera and Scalamandre, to offer a range of luxury bed linens and pillows.  These offerings showcase lifestyle living that is layered and lovely.  I love that.

"Want to go custom?  Not a problem"  These words are music to a designer's ear!  Even in the realm of ready-made soft goods, it is rare to complete a project without having to customize something.  We often need to tweak a measurement or change a trim detail to relate to another element in the room.  With Eastern Accents, this is not a problem.  They are happy to work with us to create a "semi-custom" look for our clients or create a completely custom piece.  Eastern Accents has made custom pillows, bed skirts, window treatments and headboards for us.  Their custom design department is terrific at assisting us with the sizing, details and fabric applications.  I love that!
